Shannon is always on the hunt for new oddities and wonders to include in her unique creations, from antique to modern. Lace and crochet sections are hand painted, or hand dyed by Shannon creating individual color pallets for each completely one-of-a-kind work. Funky, Retro style finely embroidered patches are added to many pieces, first with professional heat press, then each is sewn in place by hand with fine, secure stitching. Many of the embroidered items are made in house on Shannon’s vintage Pfaff 7570, while other items are attached using another vintage Pfaff model 1035. To ensure these works remain durable, all the meticulous stitching is covered by a fusible web/patchwork lining layer that is secured in place and then hand stitched around the edges for additional security.
These wearable art items have many, many (many, many), hours of loving skilled care put into each one, with the result being something that is simply awesome and wonderful to look at.
Please follow the instructions for care very carefully. These are wearable works of art and require special care.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE AND CLEANING
Do Not Iron. The jackets contain beads, sequins and other decorations that can not be ironed.
Do not Wash or Dry in a machine as the jackets contain beads, sequins and other decorations that can fall off if not treated gently.
To clean your jacket, lay it flat in a sink or tub, cover with cold water and let it soak. Rinse the same way being careful not to crumple the jacket. Do not wring out the jacket. Gently lay it on a thick, clean towel with a second clean towel on top. Gently roll the jacket and towels into a tube to soak up the excess water. Unroll the jacket and place it flat on a sweater drying rack.
To remove a stain, dab the spot with club soda and lay the jacket flat on a clean towel to let dry.
LAUNDRY HACK to avoid underarm stains…use panty liners to absorb perspiration and prolong the life of your upcycled jacket. Just peel and stick a panty liner, folded in half, over the armhole area.
